This recording comes from the Fox Beverly Theater in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday, April 15, 1956.
Contained within this audio are a few historical things of note. First, as typical of his Sunday programs at the Beverly, Dr. Holmes begins with a "healing" service. However, on this particular Sunday he asks a visiting minister, Dr. McLain, to do this portion of the service.
After Dr. Holmes returns, he goes into a bit of detail on a couple of announcements. He tells the audience that he will be leaving in the next month and that Gene Emmet Clark will be taking over the Sunday talks at the Beverly. Then he explains that due to a large sum of money left he and his wife, they decided to use the money to fund a new television program that would be starting later in the year.
Then Dr. Holmes gives his talk entitled "The Mind at Mischief".
Two Important Notes:
- The recording ends in mid-sentence.
- Dr. Holmes does use in this recording in one instance a racial term commonly used in the 1950s but less appropriate in current times.
